Bolstering the local communications community through networking and professional development were the topics of discussion at the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Barbados networking event held on Friday 24th February at Tapas, Hastings.
Communication practitioners were able to discuss the opportunities, challenges, and improvement areas for their diverse professions, while learning about IABC activities for the upcoming year.
President of IABC, Dr. Pamala Proverbs reminded attendees of the International membership drive for the month of March, encouraging those who were considering membership to utilize the discount offered during this time. She also highlighted the World Conference scheduled for June 4-7 in Toronto, Canada.
“We are happy to see so many members of the communications community tonight and look forward to continuing our professional events and seminars this year.”
Her sentiments were echoed by Communications Coordinator of the Barbados Museum and Historical Society Elena Pinder who shared “I am glad I was able to make it out tonight. I met a number of colleagues from the profession who I was able to share likeminded stories with and who I know I will be able to discuss ideas with in the future.”
IABC Barbados seeks to create meaningful opportunities for networking by developing a platform in which business communicators speak with a single, united, credible voice.
